We are pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Newham as the new Chief Executive Officer of Central West Credit Union, effective Monday, December 9 following the retirement of Mr Brett Hartin. Craig brings with him a wealth of experience from leadership roles across the financial services industry and a deep commitment to the values that make CWCU a trusted partner in the community.

It’s an honour to join and lead the CWCU team which is recognised as being a truly grassroots banking organisation and one that is totally committed to its members and the communities it serves and operates in. I’m keen to build on the strong foundation and legacy that Brett and the team have built over the years, and I look forward to contributing to this continued success. With a deep passion for delivering genuine customer service and providing relevant products and services, I’m eager to work alongside our members and grow our business together, further strengthening our connection and commitment to the communities we call home."

At the same time, we want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to Brett Hartin, who is retiring after an outstanding 36 years of dedicated service and leadership. Brett has played an instrumental role in shaping the direction and growth of Central West Credit Union, always prioritising the needs and best interests of our members. His unwavering commitment and vision have been key to the success we enjoy today, and his legacy will have a lasting impact on our organisation.

Mr Hartin leaves CWCU well positioned as a stable, reliable and competitive contributor to the banking sector and most importantly to the communities we work within. The Board is looking forward to building on the strengths of CWCU under Mr Newham’s leadership.

Between 9 December and 24 December 2024, transitional arrangements will progress whereby Mr Hartin will remain the senior official of CWCU while Mr Newham familiarises himself with Members, team and community. From 24 December 2024, Mr Newham will assume all accountabilities of the role of Chief Executive.

Our senior management team remains unchanged.
